What Happens During Roof Replacement?
#1 Gathering Materials
Munz Roofing and Siding gathers materials just before your project begins. Expect a delivery of materials on pallets the day before the scheduled work. Delivering materials too early can be a red flag, except in cases where weather delays require flexibility.
#2 Inspection and Preparation
Our roofing contractor inspects your roof and prepares the site meticulously. This includes documenting damaged areas, organizing tools, determining access routes, and setting up tarps to protect appliances and structures. We ensure that falling debris won’t damage your deck, pool, or landscaping.
#3 Removing Old Roof
The bulk of the work starts with removing the old roofing system. Whatever the material, the team will remove shingles one by one, starting at the corner farthest from your driveway. It’s a production line, with some roofers stripping, others organizing the debris or off-cuts, and others clearing gutters or other essential tasks.
#4 Replacing Roof Decking
Roof decking, the plywood under your shingles, supports your roof. After removing old shingles, the crew repairs any rotted areas. Full decking replacements are rare and only done if there’s extensive damage.
#5 Installing Roofing System
Our team follows a systematic approach to ensure quality. They install a drip edge for water protection, replace flashing, and check roof ventilation. Then, they lay the underlayment as a barrier between decking and shingles, followed by precise shingle placement.
#6 Cleanup
After installation, the yard might look chaotic, but the crew thoroughly cleans up all debris and removes tools. We leave your property as neat as it was before we started.
#7 Inspecting and Walking Through
Our contractors perform a final inspection to confirm quality, address any concerns, and answer your questions.
